After the First World War in Europe, and in particular in Britain, there was a marked reluctance to participate in radical artistic innovations with more traditional forms of figurative art.
The works presented at this
exhibition, illustrate various methods of creating figurative art: from the sharp, machine-inspired realism of William McCans and the sharply focused realism of James Cowey and Macintosh Patrick to another type of figurative art by Ben Nicholson and Christopher Wood.
