Exhibition of works by Maria Primachenko

In Lviv, the National Museum named after Andrey Sheptitsky hosts an exhibition of worksMary Primachenko(1909-1997). The exposition presents more than sixty works from a private collection (Kiev) and from the collection of the National Museum in Lviv.

In the work of the author, the sources of Ukrainian pictorial and poetic folklore organically united The artist, drawing on the traditions and experience of several generations of folk artists, developed her own artistic style, within the framework of which there are endless variants of decorative, ornamental and genre compositions. She created her own world of images and symbols - a fusion of the new and the traditional. In the master’s works, children's immediacy and ease of display prevail.

Maria Primachenko achieved world recognition and took one of the most honorable places among the outstanding masters of “naive” painting along with Henri Russo, Niko Pirosmani, Ivan Generalich, Nikifor Krynitsky.
