Exhibition of works by Rosemary Trokel

Exhibition September 18 − November 17, 2019
Multimedia Art Museum (MAMM) presents an exhibition of outstanding GermanRosemary Trokel.

The exhibition presents large-format works, minimalist sculptures, drawings and graphics by the author, photo and video materials.

The use of traditional and latest expressive means in the works of Trokel allows her to establish the deepest connections. This is especially true for ink drawings, charcoal and pencil, collages and computer images, which occupy an important position in the artist's work. Trokel creates drawings at all stages of work - these are sketches, sketches, as well as notes of observations and ideas. But, as can be clearly seen in recent large-format works, drawing is a separate direction in her art. Therefore, along with the video, Rosemary Trockel’s graphics, a special place is given to our exhibition.

Along with a critical fuse, Trokel's works are full of lively images and vibrant, compelling conceptual designs. She selects an ironic and humorous form for the most serious intellectual content, while not directly identifying the conflict and not falling into dogma. Humor and irony help her take the distance - there is a feeling that during the work Trokel seems to be observing himself from the outside and always remains self-critical. She manages to highlight the prejudices that women face both in society as a whole and in the field of art. The artist recreates these stereotypes, witty placing thematic accents and masterfully emphasizing their contradictions.
