Guan Wei: MCA Collection

Exhibition October 11, 2019 − February 9, 2020
The Australian Museum of Modern Art hosts the exhibition “Guan Wei: MCA Collection". This project brings together works from the collection of the institution, from the earliest, which examines the life and political landscape of China in the late 1980s, and ending with a large mural of Feng Shui, dedicated to the relationship between all living beings and the planet. Later works of the author explore war as an experience mediated and understood through symbols and signs.

Guan Wei was born in 1957 in Beijing. He graduated from the faculty of fine arts of Beijing Capital University. The artist first came to Australia in 1989 when he was invited to the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart. Since 2008, he lives and works between Sydney and Beijing. Member of numerous exhibitions.
