The State Historical Museum (GMI) presents an exhibition telling about the holidays, funs and mass celebrations in Russia of the XVII - early XX centuries"Hour of Fun".
The exposition has over 400 exhibits telling about traditional entertainments - booths, fistfights and skating from the mountains, as well as new ones that appeared with a change in the lifestyle of the empire - fireworks, promenades, circuses, cinema.
The “Archeology of Fun” cabinet located in the exposition will allow you to see artifacts of the Stone, Bronze Ages, Antiquity and the Middle Ages - evidence of fun in antiquity. In the section devoted to feasts and feasts, the rarest exhibits will be presented - gingerbread cookies of the 19th century, which served as a table decoration both in the peasant's hut and at the royal feast. Dinner baskets, vessels for wine, mash and honey will complement the atmosphere of a festive dinner. Among the exhibits of the exhibition you can see a wonderful collection of festive folk costumes and hats from different regions of Russia, as well as a collection of urban costumes of the 18th - early 20th centuries.
The exhibition will not only demonstrate the most interesting items from the collection of the Historical Museum related to Russian holidays and entertainment, but will also give visitors the opportunity to participate in traditional Russian funs themselves.
