Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art holds an exhibition of Finnish artist and designer
Ilona Rista "Reeds".
The work of Ilona Rista has everything that is usually associated with northern design: asceticism, the rigor of the picture, the generous use of wood, the acoustic potential of which is a special area of interest for the author.
The author offers us simple, nature-inspired images, transformed by the human consciousness of the 21st century, which turns them into mysterious, chimerical entities. In the objects created by Ilona Rista, “dressed up” in warm clothes made of birch, illusory digital landscapes are an alchemical marriage of digital and natural. Gigantic digital dragonflies chirp in the exhibition hall, and the very prosaic thickets of reeds that can be seen along the coastline appear in the form of a strict modernist lattice through which a fantastic unearthly light breaks through. Behind each of these works is an irresistible desire of the artist to hear the music of the spheres.
