The exhibition presents the works of Alexei Ruman, which are distinguished by the use of extremely concise, on the verge of minimalism, means of artistic expression.
The clarity and purity of the images with which the artist works give rise to meanings, often having a social connotation. The clash of simple visual images reveals metaphorical meaning carefully encrypted by the author. Working with stereotypes, established associations and cultural connotations, he calculates the reaction of the viewer and traces his thoughts. The end point of this sometimes winding path is the idea of the artist, which contains the true meaning of the work. At first glance, the objects of Alexey Ruman are simply minimalistic designer gizmos. The artist, being, in fact, a designer by education, works filigree with form and texture - his monochrome canvas prints, mirror nesting dolls and gilded cobblestones are easy to imagine in the form of decor for stylish apartments. Nevertheless, there is content behind the form: Rowan reflects on what the future awaits us, and suggests that for a person of a new era it will be necessary to free himself from the old body shape.
