Exhibition-Competition Victor Efimovich Popkov

Exhibition November 15 − December 5, 2019
Mytishchi Museum of History and Art presentsexhibition –contest them. Victor Efimovich Popkov.

Of the several hundred works submitted to the competition, 50 works of painting, graphic and sculpture were selected. The thematic and genre amplitude of the presented works is very diverse: from surrealism and abstraction to modern realism, from an industrial landscape to a still life and a portrait.

The work of Victor Efimovich Popkov serves as a tuning fork for many contemporary artists. His “Overcoat of the Father” is inspired by young painters, trying to try on the moral values of elders. The painting "In the Cathedral" among subsequent generations is often interpreted as a contrast between the secular and the heavenly. The eternal themes projected onto the domestic reality of the “thaw” period are the hallmark of the master. Confession, a severe style is not literal - because there are no repetitions in art - they echo the memory of the sixties - children of war in the works of artists of the 21st century.
