Saints and sinners have always given Christians examples of how they should or should not behave. Whether leading an ascetic life in the service of God or suffering torture and terrible deaths, the saints gave pious Christians examples of piety and fidelity.
On the contrary, the sinfulness of sinners from the Bible reminded them of the weaknesses of humanity and the need to avoid temptations. This paper selection demonstrates how artists developed an extraordinary set of stylistic tools to represent the righteous acts of saints and the shameful behavior of sinners.
