Exhibition "Dark masterpiece"is dedicated to one of the most mysterious paintings of William Hammershoy. His masterpiece" Job "(1887), literally, is the darkest picture in the entire history of Danish art. Over time, the canvas darkened to such an extent that it is hardly possible to see a figure in it.
When the work was exhibited in Charlottenborg in 1888, it aroused admiration and outrage among critics and fellow artists. The big dark picture seemed strangely experimental, and it is still relevant.
