In the Gallery of Siberian Art of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum. V.P. Sukachev hosts an exhibition"Vitaly Smagin and his school"dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the department of monumental decorative painting and design. V.G. Smagina (IRNITU).

The exhibition includes paintings by Vitaly Smagin and teachers of the department: Natalia Dovnich, Grigory Sverdlov, Dmitry Dorokhin, Maria Bykova, Svetlana Anosova, Elena Sergeychuk, Larisa Malkina, Evgenia Smorzh, Anastasia Izhganaitene and Nadezhda Malysheva.

Vitaly Georgievich Smagin (1937–2015) - People's Artist of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, honorary citizen of the city of Irkutsk, professor. His monumental paintings can attract the attention of the audience with the sound of color and expressive forms. A deep, almost sacred philosophy lies in his landscapes, still lifes, symbolic compositions. Vitaly Smagin was a teacher who generously shared his talent with numerous students, each of whom is a bright creative personality. Their works are exhibited in museums and galleries in Russia and other countries.
