Icons

Exhibition October 30 − November 6, 2016
Marat Gelman about the exhibition: "the"Icons" exhibition was planned as a conciliatory, to be honest, even compromise. I saw it like decorations in front of which priests and artists talk about contemporary art and contemporary church, how these topics always conflict and how to avoid the conflict. I wanted the fog of misunderstanding to dissipate and both sides to loose suspiciousness to each other and start to sympathize or at least become curious.
It could be the conversation on how liturgy is similar to performance, temple to museum, altar to installation. Searching in art is almost equal to spirituality in Christianity. The conversation could be about artists who become great serving both art and church: Leonardo da Vinci, Andrei Rublev, Caravaggio."
