Christmas story in West European engraving of the 15th - 19th centuries

A.V. Shchusev State Museum of Architecture presents an exhibition"Christmas story in the West European engraving of the XV - XIX centuries", which tells about the events associated with the birth of Jesus Christ, through a sequential series of illustrations by prominent Western European masters of the XV-XIX centuries.

The exhibition features engravings by Dürer, Parmigianino, Solis, Goltzius, Rubens, Vignon and other artists. The exposition also includes works by anonymous authors of the 15th and early 16th centuries from the Netherlands and France, some of these works are shown to the public for the first time.

The exposition consists of 8 sections, each of which corresponds to a specific biblical plot: from “Prehistory” and “Travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem” to “Flight into Egypt”. All works presented at the exhibition come from Moscow private collections.
