The Lumiere Brothers Photography Center presents the first Russian retrospective exhibition of a British fashion photographer
Miles Aldridge's “Taste of Color”.
Visitors will see about 50 of the author’s most recognizable works on display.
The king of color and the most famous photographer in the world of glossy, Miles Aldridge creates covers for Vogue, GQ and The New Yorker magazines, shoots the stars of Game of Thrones and sneers at the glamorous clichés. In his works you can often find allusions to the paintings of Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli, images from the films of Federico Fellini, David Lynch and Pedro Almodovar. The highlight of the Aldridge retrospective exhibition in Moscow is a series of photographs taken together with Maurizio Cattelan. On the one hand, Aldridge’s work fits perfectly into the aesthetics of glossy magazines, because in terms of their visual characteristics they correspond to society’s notions of beauty. On the other hand, they criticize the ideals of the modern world and the system of which they are a part.
