In Kiev, The Naked Room Gallery presents Pavel Makov's solo exhibition "Abyss". The exposition combines drawings and etchings of the 1980s and two program works created for the exhibition. The latter lead to a new imagery of humanized plants. The author synthesizes various signs, images and types of visuals - they are multi-layered, non-linear and elusive for interpretation.
Pavel Makov was born in 1958 in St. Petersburg. He studied at the Academy of Arts of St. Petersburg and the Kharkov Art and Industrial Institute at the Department of Graphics. Since 1988, a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, since 1994 a member of the Royal Society of Painters and Graphics of Great Britain, since 2006 a corresponding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. Laureate of the Silver Medal of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2009) and Shevchenko Prize (2018). Lives and works in Kharkov.
