Hokusai: Crazy about painting

Exhibition November 23, 2019 − November 8, 2020
Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849), an icon of world art, created thousands of works in his long life.

Charles Lang Freer recognized the artist’s tremendous abilities in front of many other collectors and collected the world's largest collection of paintings, sketches and drawings by Hokusai.

In commemoration of the centenary of Freer’s death and the celebration of the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2020, the Gallery presents the exhibition "Hokusai: Crazy about painting".
