Dali - Freud

Exhibition October 23, 2020 − March 7, 2021
London, fall of 1938. Salvador Dali meets Sigmund Freud, who escaped from Vienna. The first and only meeting between the artist and his idol was arranged by Stefan Zweig and Edward James. Exhibition "Dali - Freud"shows the influence of a psychoanalyst on Dali's work.

The main motives of surrealism are the subconscious, and the sphere of dreams already demonstrates that artists in this direction are passionate about psychoanalysis.

The depth to which the greatest representative of this movement, Salvador Dali, specifically dealt with the theories of Sigmund Freud - and how suddenly many of these theories appeared in his work - will be shown at an exhibition in Lower Belvedere.

The exposition consists of 150 paintings, sculptures, photographs, films, books, magazines, letters and other documents, many of which will be provided by outstanding cultural institutions. The exhibition demonstrates the powerful appeal of Freud's theories to the surrealists, highlighting the two most significant movements of the twentieth century.
