Within the framework of the exhibition "
Gerhard Richter. Pictures 2017-2020"Albertinum first presents 70 new pencil drawings by Gerhard Richter, created after a long break in work.
Drawings accompany the painting by Gerhard Richter since 1964. The drawings created since 1976 are mainly based on a complex repertoire of forms of abstract images created in parallel, and are characterized by their individual formats and the first intensive use of colored pencils.
Richter created his first watercolors of 1977/78 on thin lined writing paper, which was noticeably affected by the application of watercolors, which experts regard as a serious technical defect.
