In dialogue"celebrates the 300th anniversary of the Dresden Engraving Office.
Three outstanding paintings with selected drawings from the engraving cabinet collection are presented in Albertinum.
The focus is on the painting "The Family of John the Baptist with the Family of Christ" by Julius Schnorr von Karolsfeld, dated 1817, and a detailed final pen drawing along with biblical illustrations and landscapes of the artist.
Also presented is a painting by Adolf von Menzel "Piazza d'Erbe in Verona", along with model studies of the great realist, preserved in Dresden.
As evidence of expressionist portraiture, Oscar Kokoschka’s painting “Gitta Wallerstein”, created in 1921, which is shown along with watercolors and drawings by the artist.
