State Tretyakov Gallery presents an exhibition of worksSarah Dmitrievna Lebedeva(1892-1967) - an outstanding artist and sculptor of the twentieth century.
The exposition contains sculptures and graphic works by the author, distinguished by their originality and subtle psychologism.
The sculptures of Sarah Lebedeva conveyed to us the spirit of the times and entered the golden fund of the masterpieces of Russian art of the twentieth century. It is Lebedeva who we owe vivid portraits of people who made history - Valery Chkalov, Felix Dzerzhinsky, Vladimir Tatlin, Vera Mukhina, Solomon Mikhoels, heroes of labor and war. She managed to capture something more than the appearance of these people. In her images, especially female ones, the anxiety of life, a sense of its transience, are reflected, and, at the same time, the deep properties of human nature are revealed. Sarah Lebedeva participated in the sculptural design of large-scale and iconic ensembles of the 1930s - the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition, the Central Park of Culture and Rest named after A.M. Gorky, worked on projects of monuments A.S. Pushkin, A.P. Chekhov, F.E. Dzerzhinsky. One of her last works was a tombstone on the grave of B.L. Parsnip.
