Dora Mauer. Artist, mentor, curator

Exhibition June 5 − August 5, 2020
Tate Modern Gallery holds an exhibition“Dora Mauer. Artist, mentor, curator ».

The exhibition brings together more than 35 works by the Hungarian artist Dora Mauer (born 1937), including paintings, graphic works and photographs. A retrospective covering more than five decades emphasizes the playful conceptual approach that the author brings to his experiments.

Dora Maurer has always been at the center of an independent community of artists, poets and musicians who defended their own culture outside the official system during the “socialist” period. They organized exhibitions in apartments and published underground magazines. An experimental artist, she brought the experimental component in her works - to the limit, was engaged in photography, collaborated with musicians, and after the 70s of the 20th century she developed unique geometric and abstract images, as if floating in space.
