Turner's modern world

Tate Britain presents a large-scale exhibition"The Modern World of Turner".

The exhibition will combine the paintings of the great artist from the collections of museums around the world.

Joseph Mullord William Turner lived and worked in the era of the industrial revolution, when machine tools replaced manual labor, steam engines replaced sails and horse-drawn traction, and political and social reforms transformed society. The exhibition will demonstrate how the artist updated his creative means of self-expression to interpret the ongoing transformations. Picturesque paintings convey the enthusiasm and dedication of the author with new technologies, industrial achievements, including visitors will see the famous canvases “Rain, steam and speed” 1844 and “The last voyage of the ship“ Brave ”” 1839.
