Inspiration - Contemporary Art and Classics

Exhibition June 18 − September 20, 2020
Atheneum Art Museum invites to the exhibition“Inspiration - contemporary art and classic”.

The exhibition shows works of art inspired by the most iconic masterpieces of painting and sculpture. Among the authors represented are Jeff Koons, Marina Abramovich, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Nancy Futs, Mark Karasik, Ola Kolekhmainen, Joseph Kossuth, Sarah Masyuger, Inca Shonibare and others.

The history of Western art includes a number of works of art known throughout the world. Many of them are associated with ancient myths, biblical subjects or depict significant people and events. The exhibition examines classical works from a modern point of view. Famous paintings and sculptures inspired contemporary artists, whose views range from admiration for the talent of the old masters to an ironic or critical attitude towards old traditions. The works of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Rembrandt and other artists continue to inspire contemporary artists today.
