From Leonardo to Matisse

The Metropolitan Museum of art presents the exhibition "From Leonardo to Matisse: master drawings from the collection of Robert Lyman".
The fine arts collection of Robert Lyman is considered one of the most important and largest private collections in the USA. It includes more than 2,600 objects of European art from the 14th to the 20th century. The paintings, manuscripts, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, enamels, jewelry, one only of the figures, there are more than 700 sheets.
The exhibition traces the development of European drawing from the Renaissance to the early 20th century thanks to the works of famous masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht dürer, Rembrandt, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Georges Seurat and Henri Matisse.
Approximately 60 drawings from the famous collection of Robert Lyman, stored in the Museum, are dynamic variety of styles, techniques and genres - from sweeping landscapes and compositional studies for mythological and biblical narratives to the damaging studies of the human figure.
