The exhibition includes paintings by the author, photographs, media presentations, installations, illustrating the work of the American conceptualist.
John Baldessari created concept art, which asks questions about what “art” is, how it is made, and how it looks. Combining images from pop culture with linguistic research, the author's work challenged artistic norms and limitations throughout his career. For more than five decades, John Baldessari (1931–2020) has explored the relationship between text and image and what happens when they combine. His conceptual works often have features of humor and irony. The exhibition covers the entire career of Baldessari and shows the breadth of his artistic practice.
