NEMOSKVA: Nemoskva is not far off

Exhibition August 8 − October 15, 2020
Central Exhibition Hall "Manezh" together with the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkin is preparing a large exhibition project"Nemoskva is not far off".

The exposition will present the works of 80 contemporary artists from 21 cities of Russia, while 68 works were created specifically for the exhibition.

Over the past thirty years, many regions of the Russian Federation have witnessed the maturation and establishment of modern artistic practices. Self-identification, self-education and self-organization, a break with tradition and the study of local non-conformist practices of the past, integration into international discourse - these are the trajectories along which people have moved, developing contemporary art in Russia. Today, the center / periphery dichotomy is perceived as an anachronism. Every artist is a center, no matter where he lives. The NEMOSKVA project is the consolidation of this trend. It is the artists who are capable of anticipating the present, reacting and predicting new things, seeing and capturing emotion before the unhurried flywheel of reflection reaches it. The exhibition will present the results of their meditations on the present and the upcoming future.
