The New Carlsberg Glyptotek invites you to visit the exhibition
"Egypt".
The exhibition features more than 300 works over 3000 years old. This long period allows us to see both the development of Egyptian art in general and the masterpieces of each period: from monumental sculptures and works of architecture to the world of many Egyptian gods and magical hieroglyphs. And, of course, scary and alluring mummies.
A more "chronological" approach to Ancient Egypt is possible through the study of figures of gods and people, steles and other smaller artifacts. They give an overview of the development of art and society over a millennium. Major works include a unique collection of objects from the Amarna period, ruled by Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Tutankhamen. One of the oldest exhibits of the museum is also in the Egyptian collection - a unique sculpture of a hippopotamus, about 5000 years old.
