Cool water. Treasures of the Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum organizes an exhibition“Cool water. Treasures of the Rijksmuseum ".

The exhibition presents more than 40 paintings by representatives of four centuries, incl. The Golden Age of Dutch Painting. The paintings are united by the theme of water as the "main character" of the work. The exhibition features works by renowned Dutch artists such as Jan van Goyen, Salomon van Ruisdael, Hendrik Willem Mesdag, Jacob Maris and Isaac Israel.

Of the four elements, water is the most characteristic of the Netherlands, which are located in the lowest delta in the world. Large rivers, seaside and 18,000 km of dams define the Dutch landscape. Water is friend and foe. Over the centuries, artists have captured water in many different ways.
