The calm before the storm. Art of the Wadden Sea

Exhibition October 3, 2020 − January 10, 2021
The Ribe Art Museum hosts an exhibition“The calm before the storm. The Art of the Wadden Sea ".

The exhibition presents paintings from the collections of Danish museums and private collections, united by the theme of the ocean in general and the Wadden Sea in particular. The exhibition showcases the impressions and atmosphere of the Wadden Sea - from the 19th century to the present day, including artists from Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.

Since 2014, the entire Wadden Sea from Ho Bay in Denmark to Den Helder in the Netherlands has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in 2020 the Danish part of the Wadden Sea celebrates its 10th anniversary as a national park. After two centuries of artistic activity in the area, painters still come here.
