Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art hosts an exhibition
Genesis Belanger. Through the eye of a needle ".
Visitors are presented with the first major one-man museum exhibition by New York artist Genesis Belanger (b. 1978), whose practice encompasses sculpture and paintings, mainly consisting of porcelain, ceramics and upholstery.
Anthropomorphizing common household items - wagging lipsticks, women's pearl lamps, and blue-eyed sardine cans - Belanger's methodology combines surrealism and pop art with creative experiences grounded in careers in the fashion and advertising industries. The author presented her largest and most complex set to date: dozens of "living" objects placed on ghostly furniture that offer narratives about our disturbing present
