Alexey Korin. Dedicated to the 155th birthday

Ples State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve and the Museum of Landscape present jubilee exhibition of works by Alexey Mikhailovich Korin (1865 - 1923).

More than 50 works of the artist are located in the museum hall: portraits, lyrical landscapes, interior and genre paintings from the collections of the Plessk Museum-Reserve and the State Museum of Palekh Art.

Alexey Korin was born in Palekh, in a family of hereditary icon painters, and his passion for drawing came to him in early childhood. Following the family tradition, at the beginning of his career, he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, but later left icon painting and entered the portrait class of MUZHViZ. His teachers were such famous artists and educators as V.G. Perov, I. M. Pryanishnikov, V. E. Makovsky and V. D. Polenov. In 1889, Alexei Mikhailovich completed his studies with the Great Silver Medal and the title of class artist, and five years later he was invited to his native School as a teacher. Among the students of Korin the teacher are A. Plastov, M. Saryan, A. Gerasimov, B. Ioganson and other famous Soviet painters.
