The State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg is holding an exhibition "Venice in the distance, like a strange dream ...".

The exhibition acquaints visitors with the collection of "Venetian" materials from the collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. Paintings, prints, lithographs, historical photographs - more than 170 images in total - give an idea of what Venice looked like in the 18th-19th centuries.

Venice is an amazing city on the islands, which has always had a special attraction for Russian travelers. At the exhibition, visitors will be able to get acquainted with memories, fragments of letters, poems about Venice, written by Russian artists, writers, poets who visited this unusual city. The artistic installation Venetian Masks, based on the works of Pietro Longhi and Francesco Guardi, helps convey the romantic atmosphere typical of Venice, filled with secrets and metamorphoses.
