Igor Makarevich and Elena Elagina. Countdown

Exhibition November 11, 2020 − March 21, 2021
Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA) presents a retrospective exhibition Igor Makarevich and Elena Elagina "Countdown".

The exposition includes both solo projects of each of the artists and the most significant joint artistic statements. For the authors themselves, this exhibition is an occasion to look back and analyze what has been done and passed over the past thirty years.

Igor Makarevich and Elena Elagina began working as co-authors in 1990 within the framework of the famous "Closed Fish Exhibition", and their work is traditionally viewed in the context of Moscow conceptualism. The development of Countdown does not follow a rigid chronology. The exhibition is formulated and follows the logic of cross-cutting themes, their mutual influences and intersections. The structure of the exhibition is similar to the "well-tempered clavier", where each next artistic statement and logically follows from the previous one, and is closely related to it, so that the artistic range expands with each new project.
