Communication. MCA collection

Exhibition October 2, 2020 − May 2, 2021
Museum of Contemporary Art Australia hosts an exhibition "Communication. MCA Collection".

The exhibit introduces ten Australian artists and transports the viewer from the countryside of southern New South Wales to the vast Anangu Pityantyatyara Yankunityatyara (APY) lands, which span the central desert region of South Australia's remote northwest, to the eastern Kimberley region of Western Australia and to Arnhem Land in the northern territory and across the seas to the Tiwi Islands, the Torres Strait and further to Indonesia.

Through a variety of materials and approaches, the works included in this exhibition express a sense of a deep connection - with a place, people or worldview - taking into account a variety of perspectives and cultural backgrounds from across the country and beyond. They reveal important expressions of cultural knowledge, commentaries on complex shared stories, memories of the landscape, and representations of certain ideologies. Together, they highlight social, cultural and emotional ties.
