ESSL collection
Exhibition January 10 − March 14, 2021
For the first time, the Albertina Modern Gallery is holding an exhibition entirely dedicated to Essl collections.
The exposition includes paintings, sculptures, objects, installations and videos; they give an insight into the diversity of media in the Essl collection, which has been owned by the ALBERTINA Museum since 2017 and forms the basis of contemporary art collections.
Visitors will get acquainted with 110 major works from the Essl collection of the most famous artists from 1960 to the present day, from Antoni Tapies to Maria Lassnig to Georg Baselitz and Alex Katz to Fang Lijun, Annette Messager and Nam June Paik. In the halls of the gallery, the most influential and important artists from Austria enter into dialogue with the most influential trends in contemporary art and their influential representatives.
