Golden outflow and divine foundation

Exhibition April 28 − May 18, 2021
The Onni Art Museum hosts an exhibition "Golden Outflow and Divine Foundation".

The exhibition presents paintings, drawings and sculptures by Jasmine Anoshkina (b. 1980) and Soili Talya (b. 1958).

Jasmine Anoshkina and Soili Talya explore similar themes in their art, although they work with different techniques and methods. Anoshkina is known for her playful ceramic sculptures inspired by the aesthetics of toys, while Thalia's work in the exhibition features light ink paintings. However, both artists explore concepts related to the human body, and their work creates the illusion of lightness and boundlessness. Anoshkin's sculptures cast doubt on the idea of a "correct" way of creating art. The shapes and colors of her sculptures are reminiscent of how children sculpt with clay or paint. The figures of animals and people seem grotesque and disfigured, but their flaws can ultimately be seen as humorous and admirable, radiating positive and acceptance around them. Thalia's paintings are a combination of abstract and figurative expression. Her works are depictions of the soul that challenge the traditional separation of body and mind. The expressive light strokes and lines of the Waist create a powerful sense of embodiment and a vivid illusion of movement.
