Louvre invites you to visit the exhibition
"Feast of the rulers".
An extensive exposition consists of more than 400 works, including paintings, sculptures, archaeological sites, dishes, jewelry, telling the history of cultural practices of feasts and a rich exchange of cultural traditions.
From the Mesopotamian liturgical banquet to the large table of Louis XIV, from dinner taken lying down to dinner at the table, the habits and customs of table art continued to evolve. The meal was an opportunity for human society to invent an artistic and cultural language aimed at representing a political system, power, or even an individual. Unique exhibits take visitors to Mesopotamia, Egypt or Ancient Greece, to the tables of kings, gods and citizens.
