The Musée des Beaux-Arts, Bordeaux and the Louvre Museum, Paris are hosting an exhibition
"British Stories: Dialogue between the Louvre and the Museum of Fine Arts".
Visitors will see a magnificent collection of paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures by British masters of the 16th-19th centuries from the collection of museums, incl. paintings by Joshua Reynolds, Thomas Lawrence, James Ward and others.
An important part of the exhibition is dedicated to portraiture, a genre in which British painters from the 16th century distinguished themselves. It features masters of this genre, from Anton van Dyck, who contributed to the updating of the portrait art codes, to the painting of Thomas Lawrence.
