Hybrid creatures. Sculpture in the modern era

Exhibition April 25, 2021 − July 31, 2022
Hamburg Kunsthalle hosts an exhibition “Hybrid creatures. Sculpture in the modern era ".

For the first time in the past 20 years, the museum presents an exhibition of several dozen works by world famous sculptors, including Julio Gonzalez, Karl Hartung, Germaine Riccier, Marino Marini and Henry Moore, as well as the artist Ursula Kvaerner. Some of the works were created in the middle of the 20th century, and some were not exhibited for decades.

The unusual display includes both palm-sized objects and figures larger than natural ones, and the materials used are also varied: they range from bronze to steel, from brass and wood to marble. Powerful and distinctive in their expression "hybrid creatures" stimulate a variety of impressions, thoughts and sensations in the audience. They can lead to menacing worlds of absurdity and surrealism, but they also offer solace in nature as eternal growing life.
