Liverpool National Museums and Walker Art Gallery are hosting an exhibition
Charles Shannon and Charles Ricketts.
The Walker Art Gallery exhibit includes paintings, drawings and lithographs, and highlights the work and relationships of Charles Shannon (1863-1937) and Charles Rickets (1866-1931).
The exhibition explores the personalities of artists, the ideas that influenced their work, and the main topics of concern to the authors. Shannon and Rickett met at art school as a teenager. They have lived and worked together for over fifty years. From complex female characters to sketches for the biblical narrative of morality and judgment, the selected works reflect not only their creative partnership, but also the artistic and progressive circles in which the artists were found.
