Our life is in watercolor

The Royal Collection of Great Britain hosts an exhibition “Victoria and Albert. Our life is in watercolor ".

The exposition, in which many works are presented for the first time, is timed to coincide with the bicentennial of the birth of Victoria and Albert. These colorful, dynamic watercolors reflect the splendor and spectacle of the British court, overseas travel and diplomacy, the exploration and shaping of a modern nation and, not least, the close-knit family behind it all.

Throughout their marriage, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were enthusiastic patrons (and practitioners) of the art of watercolor painting. They have formed a collection of thousands of watercolors, many of which illustrate scenes of their public and private life; often spent happy evenings together, collecting their collections into albums.
