The Belvedere presents the most complete exhibition of the artist's works to date. Viewers will see more than 100 works created over the past 15 years of creativity, with an emphasis on new works.
In her paintings, Maya Vukoj views cultural hybridity and transculturalism as the basic conditions of our globalized world. The artist developed her own visual language at different stages of her work. However, she not only focuses on mixing and combining elements from different cultures as motives. Wukoj also reflects these hybrid phenomena in the sense of the medial differentiation of painting in the materials and artistic processes used. Visitors will find a mesmerizing world of tropical landscapes, colonial goods, pop culture motifs, digitized objects and iconic works of painterly abstraction.
