Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam! To the greater glory of God!

The State Museum of the History of Religion in St. Petersburg invites you to visit the exhibition "Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam! To the greater glory of God!"the Jesuit Order's jubilee celebrations were held on the occasion of the Jubilee.

It consists of unique exhibits dating back to the 16th - early 21st centuries: rare printed editions, works of Flemish, Spanish and Italian paintings, graphics, religious objects, etc. - The exhibition tells about the activities of the Order that began during the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation period that followed, which greatly contributed to the renewal of the internal church life and the spiritual revival of Western European society.

The exhibition "Ad maiorem Dei gloriam!" is timed to coincide with the anniversary celebrations of the Ignatian Year, organized in the Catholic Church by the Society of Jesus to mark the 500th anniversary of the spiritual conversion of Ignatius Loyola, the 400th anniversary of the canonization of the founder of the Jesuit order and several other memorable dates.
