The Century of Unfinished Utopias. Official Soviet Art (1917-1991)

Exhibition April 30 − December 30, 2021
The Vrubel Omsk Regional Museum of Fine Arts in the Hermitage-Siberia Center presents the exhibition "The Century of Unfinished Utopias. Official Soviet Art (1917-1991)".

On the example of more than 150 works from the museum collection, the exhibition introduces the main cultural and artistic trends of the era, as well as features of the formation and development of visual art.

From 1917 to 1991, an artistic chronicle of life in the USSR was created: its daily routine and celebrations, labor and achievements, struggles and victories, hopes and desires. It is the dream of a better future that was taken as the starting point for the construction of the exhibition. Demonstrating the variety of fine arts genres, the exhibition has a pronounced anthropocentric character, focusing on the portrait and genre compositions. Its central theme is the man of the new time, creating a new reality, transforming reality and striving for a bright future.
