Sophie Teuber-Arp

Exhibition July 15 − October 17, 2021
Tate Modern presents the exhibition "Sophie Teuber-Arp.".

This is the first retrospective of Sophie Toeber-Arp's work ever held in Britain. The halls of the museum contain her major works from major collections in Europe and the United States, most of which have never been seen in this country before.

Sophie Toibert-Arp was one of the leading abstraction artists and designers of the 1920s and '30s. Her multidisciplinary work has had an enduring influence, inspiring pioneering artists and designers around the world. Toibert-Arp's work was extraordinarily varied and at times contradictory. She embroidered and painted, carved sculptures and edited magazines, created dolls and mysterious Dada objects. She combined traditional crafts with the vocabulary of modernist abstraction, defying the boundaries that separate art and design.
