"The Silence. Ekaterina Konyukhova

Exhibition August 6 − September 5, 2021
The State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Gallery of Modern Art of the Republic of Tatarstan present the exhibition "Silence" by Ekaterina Konyukhova.

The basis of the exhibition are picturesque works of the artist, revealing the themes of dependent relationships, violation of personal boundaries, consumerism to the beauty and the prohibition of freedom to dispose of their own bodies.

Working in the field of abstract art and minimalism, Katerina Konyukhova nevertheless uses figurative outlines and biomorphic images, breaking the main prohibition against imitating reality. This peculiarity of artistic language becomes a kind of conceptual gesture of resistance in the context of this exhibition: the artist wants people to stop tolerating oppression and not be afraid to speak openly about the troubles they are experiencing. In addition to paintings, viewers will be able to see black "stone" statues of human height, symbolizing silence and giving the exhibition its name, from the group of artists Anastasia Morozova, Dina Terentieva, Tatiana Silantieva and Alla Medova, as well as video art, created with the support of the RE'ACTOR creative industries development program.
