Exhibition September 15 − October 31, 2021
The State Hermitage Museum holds an exhibition "The Face of God."The exhibition is dedicated to about sixty works by contemporary Russian artist-photographer Olga Michi.

The art project is based on photographic images of real-life masks, sculptures and headdresses, which are created from the primitive era through to the present day. These images go through many stages of creative, conceptual and technical processing to become finished works. Important visual tools in the Face of the Deity project are high-tech computer processing tools, especially those based on algorithms of digital neural networks.

Olga Michi's works, created in 2019 -2020, cover a wide range of topics, are dedicated to current issues of modern life and touch upon many philosophical issues. Following the traditions of Western European art, the author creates unique works in the field of contemporary digital photography and video art. The topic of a mask is in the center of attention of the exhibition "The Face of a Deity". In his works the artist reflects on the mask as a complex and conceptual tool with many functions, both literal and metaphorical.
