Russian classics. Untold stories

Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum holds an exhibition "Russian classics. Untold Stories".

The event coincides with the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod. The exhibition brought together famous and beloved by the audience paintings of the great masters of Russian classical fine art of the XVIII - early XX centuries. Karl Bryullov, Ivan Kramskoy, Ivan Shishkin, Isaak Levitan, Nikolay Yaroshenko, Viktor Vasnetsov, Filipp Malyavin and Boris Kustodiev are the names associated with the highest achievements of the national painting school.

"Russian classics. Untold Stories" brings together in the halls of the museum pictorial works connected with a common history, idea and meaning, allowing to assess their artistic merits in a new context. The exhibition includes more than two dozen paintings of different genres and stylistic trends. The combination of once "separated" works reveals the unique uniqueness of Russian art, the amazing breadth of its content.
