Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after Suchev. V.P. Sukachev holds a large-scale exhibition "My Destiny is Irkutsk."dedicated to the 360th anniversary of the city.
The exhibition includes more than 200 works of painting, graphics and DPI from the collection of the Museum and artists' studios. The exhibition shows the history of Irkutsk through portraits of outstanding people who made a significant contribution to the life and development of the city.
The exhibition is divided into thematic blocks with portraits of Irkutsk governors, representatives of the clergy, merchants, honorary citizens of the city, political exiles, workers of culture and science. Thanks to its retrospective character (the earliest work dates back to the end of the 18th century, the latest - to 2021) the exhibition allows to trace the evolution of the portrait genre from a local provincial phenomenon to an important part of the cultural heritage of Russian art.
