Exhibition of Gennady Omelchenko "Your Image and Mine..."

Exhibition 10 − November 28, 2021
On November 9, at 17.00, Primorsky State Picture Gallery invites to the opening of the exhibition "Your Image and Mine..." Gennady Alekseevich Omelchenko (1936-2021), a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, Far Eastern painter. The exhibition will be held within the framework of the large-scale project "Heritage" which introduces the life and work of the seaside artists in the form of exhibitions and documentaries. The film about Gennady Alekseyevich will be presented at the vernissage and is available for viewing in the exposition throughout the exhibition.
The Olive Hall (12 Partizansky Prospect) holds a small fraction of the portrait works from the master's extensive heritage. Paintings, prints and author's graphics present the viewer with a number of images of contemporaries, loved ones, portraits of the only companion in life and many self-portraits made over six decades - from 1962 to 2020.
The exhibition consists of more than fifty paintings and drawings, belonging to the artist's family, the Primorsky State Picture Gallery and a private collector. All of them represent the most diverse range of creative interests and preferences of Gennady Omelchenko. Vividly emotional graphic language reveals the artist's adherence to the principles of Russian art of the 1920s with its dynamic composition structure. Musical consonances of colors, their gradations and mixtures make canvases glow with cadmium yellow, cinnabar, sapphire and noble purple. Balancing on the verge of figurative and abstract, the artist used color, stain and line to tell the innermost things about himself and us.
The exhibition will run until November 28.
